CabWriter 2.0

The Power of SketchUp

We’ve combined SketchUp’s legendary ease of use with our CabWriter extension, adding powerful new features to let you quickly draw cabinets and present your designs to your customer in 3D just like the big, expensive software packages.

Full Design Capabilities

Dream it and design it with CabWriter. Full kitchens, wet bars, bathroom vanities, media centers, bookcases, hutches, closets – let your imagination run wild. Since CabWriter is integrated with SketchUp, all of its native tools are available to you. Any cabinet that CabWriter draws can be modified in any way using native SketchUp tools, giving you the flexibility you need to create exactly the right look. This means you’re not limited to only what CabWriter can draw automatically. For more real life examples, see our project gallery.

True Parametric Drawing

Parametric drawing lets you specify your construction method, whether it’s face frame, frameless, or anything in between. With over 350 parameters, you can be certain that CabWriter draws cabinets the way you build them. Place cabinets of the type and size you want using our exclusive Story Stick technology, and CabWriter draws it for you part by part, quickly and accurately, every time.

Wide Variety of Cabinet Types

CabWriter features a diverse set of base and upper cabinet box types to choose from. Each cabinet can consist of one or more boxes and each box can be of a different type. When combined with 350 different parameters, you can create an infinite set of cabinet types.

Advanced Cutlist and Reporting Capability

In order to build your design, you need documentation. CabWriter provides all the production documentation you need at the push of a button, including an Excel (.csv) compatible cutlist and door and drawer reports. We are fully compatible with Cutlist Plus fx for even more advanced cutlist, costing, label printing, and plywood optimization capability.

Shop Drawings

If you’re a professional, you’ll need the ability to create a complete shop drawing package, including elevations and sections, complete with your own personalized title block, dimensions, notes, and automatic hatching based on material type. CabWriter Pro works seamlessly with the SketchUp Pro Layout application to help you generate a professional drawing package. Create SketchUp scenes for all of your elevation, section, and plan views and at the press of a button, CabWriter will create a LayOut document with one scene per page, with optional hatching, to which you can add dimensions and notes.

Cabinet Libraries

CabWriter Pro has taken a multi-pronged and innovative approach to managing your cabinet library. Every cabinet you draw automatically becomes part of your personal library.

CNC Integration

From “Screen to Machine” in no time! CabWriter CNC is an add-on to CabWriter Pro, allowing you to export your carcass parts to a DXF file which is compatible with nearly all CAM, or tool path, software on the market. With CabWriter version 2, can add user-defined rectangular or circular cutouts, pockets, and drill holes to any plywood part to be exported to the DXF along with all of the CabWriter-generated joinery. Create create custom DXF layer names encoded with the machining operation type, tool name, tool diameter, and cutting depth to allow CAM software to automatically generate tool paths based on layer name if capable.
