Laubwerk Plants
Load Laubwerk's procedural plant models into SketchUp and render them in high quality using V-Ray or Thea.
Laubwerk Plants

Bring your models to life with high quality vegetation!

The Laubwerk Plants extension gives users of V-Ray or Thea for SketchUp access to an extensive library of render-ready, realistic, procedural 3D plants. The plants are loaded as simple proxy objects into your SketchUp model. At render time these are automatically exchanged by the high detail representation. That way, you can quickly place and interact with your model even with many trees in your scene, while the highly details full quality version is created in the background and only loaded at render-time.

The plants contain full render-ready materials and texture set up for your renderer. No manual set up of materials or manual proxy set up needed.

Switch Age, Variation and Season

Each Plants Kit contains a selection of ten species in three variations, three ages, and four seasons, leading to a total of 360 model variants per Kit. Change the models to suit your needs

Free Trial Version without Limitations

Get the Plants Kit Freebie today. It contains five example plant species and the full functionality of the extension. No time, usage or feature restrictions apply. Just go ahead and render away...

Full Control over Plant Details

Every plant is a procedural model that lets you change a number of parameters through the Plant Attribute Editor. That way you can easily change the age, variation, season, as well as leaf density and level of detail for the rendered geometry.

Browse the Library

The Laubwerk Plants Extension includes a browser that gives you a quick overview over all plant models with thumbnails, botanical and common name, description, and size ranges. It also sports a quick search box.

Supports Interactive Rendering

Laubwerk Plants works perfectly with the interactive rendering modes of both, V-Ray and Thea. That way plants can be removed and added, different variations can be swapped in, and settings can be changed, while working in an interactive rendering session.

Full Skatter Support

Laubwerk Plants work out of the box with the phantastic Skatter Extension for SketchUp!

System Requirements

  • Supported Renderers:
    • V-Ray for SketchUp 2.x and 3.x
    • Thea or higher
  • Fully compatible with Skatter

Hello, version 1.0.25 seems to have problems with vray 2.0, where can I download Plants Kit version 1.0.24?

hi , there
I installed your free kit for sketchup
but after installing , my vray is showing errors.
i am using sketchup 2016 and vray 2
i am receiving the following feed in my ruby console

Laubwerk: vray2 callback

I have Sketchup Make 2017 and I have already install this but its not showing up in my extension manger how do i access this so i can use it.

Laubwerk's picture

It should just show up. If it doesn't please check your Extension Manager. For further technical support, please contact our support E-Mail.

John M's picture

Is there a method to getting the extension to work in SU 2018? I feel as though it's easier than I'm making it, but I've already tried reinstalling the Plants Freebie Kit.

Laubwerk's picture

Hi John, it should work in SketchUp 2018. Just make sure you downloaded the latest version (1.0.25).

I'm working with SketchUp PRO 2018 (Trial version), Vray 3.6 and Laubwerk Free 1.0.25.

The issue I'm having is that everything freezes the moment I try to render anything with a laubwerk proxy, no matter how simple. The rendering never starts and I need to forcefully terminate Sketchup and restart. Rendering happens normally as long as there is not a laubwerk proxy.

I also only ever see "Generating geometry" in the Info panel on the Plant Attribute window. It stays there forever, no matter how much time I wait and no matter how simple the plant.

Does anyone knows how to fix this??

EDIT: from laubwerk support:
> Do you have by chance a special character in your Windows user name? This might cause the issue. We are currently working to fix this and there is a workaround.

After creating a new user with no special chars the problem has been fixed

Laubwerk's picture

Hi Pedro, thanks for trying the workaround. We are working on a general fix for this.

Psy H's picture

Hello and thank you for this amazing plugin. Made my life easier

I have an issue that cant solve, tried everything. I m using sketchup 2015 pro and V-Ray 2.0.

I cant render or use vray when Laubwerk extension is enabled. As soon as i disable it everything is back to normal.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Laubwerk's picture

There is currently a problem with V-Ray 2.0 support. Please downgrade to 1.0.24 or wait for the next update. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Alvaro C.'s picture

Where can I find the 1.0.24 Laubwerk update, please?

Thanks in advance

Andy K's picture

I'm having the same problem with updating to 1.025 on windows.
This is the error I get:

Error Loading File C:/ProgramData/SketchUp/SketchUp 2017/SketchUp/Plugins/lbw_player/loader.rb
Error: #
C:/ProgramData/SketchUp/SketchUp 2017/SketchUp/Plugins/lbw_player/render/render_registration.rb:9:in `'

The problem you are getting appears when you don't uninstall the previous version. Williams answer works as a fix, but we also silently updated the current installer with a Hotfix that should work even if you did not previously uninstall 1.0.24. So the easiest is to just re-download the 1.0.25 installer and try again.

William W's picture

Try going into the directory listed on the error message and erasing everything in it.
Reinstall the Laubwerk player again, and it should work.

Christof R.'s picture

Hey there, its a great plugin but when rendering with v-ray my Trees are always white it doesnt seem to automaticaly recognize the texture i have to apply manualy, is there a solution for am i missing anything?! Thanks

Laubwerk's picture

Hi Christof,
this is a problem with V-Ray 3.6. We are working on an update, it should be out soon.

William W's picture

Any news or update of when Laubwerk player will be updated for SketchUp 2018

Laubwerk's picture

Will be out very soon.

hi, when i instal is says SketchUp is blocking installation
any solution?

Laubwerk's picture

Hi Greg, when the installer reports that the problem is that SketchUp is running, the solution is to close SketchUp. There are rare cases where you tried to close SketchUp but it the process did not properly terminate. In those cases you can force quit it using the Task Manager or just restart your computer.

Who can help me with this problem. When i start sketchup i have this error.
Error Loading File C:/ProgramData/SketchUp/SketchUp 2015/SketchUp/Plugins/lbw_player/loader.rb

WHY only vray, thea and maxwell ???

Laubwerk's picture

It is a bit of work to add support for a particular rendering engine. Also the way it currently works, the render engine does have to allow the Laubwerk Extension to interact with it in a certain way. This is not possible with all rendering engines. We are working on supporting more rendering engines and also add ways to eventually support all render engines.

I find it a shame that Laubwerk doesn't make their program compatible to everyone. What do they stand to gain by cutting out other software? WHY ?

William W's picture

Actually I have it working with Maxwell 4.1
It renders out beautifully, but it takes ages.. well, as with any render done in Maxwell.

so without vray or thea renders, i cannot use this plugin?????????????

William W's picture

It does work with Maxwell 4.1

thanks bro

How to download it ?

William W's picture

From their official website.

They have a free kit, with the 'player' and a few trees.
Try it out, it is great.

Fagner V.'s picture

I downloaded it on the site, but the plant attributes does not show the description and the render comes out white, how to solve?

I have the same problem, did u fix it? Thanks

William W's picture

Is there an update for those of us who are using Maxwell for SketchUp for rendering!?
Very cool trees, but not able to render them using Maxwell Render for SketchUp.
Is there a work around?

Laubwerk's picture

We are working on Maxwell support. I cannot give you a date, yet, but it will happen soon.

William W's picture

Hello, and thanks for replying.
I recently purchased kit 11.
I am enjoying it, however, I cannot insert the 'Glorious Jungle Philodendron' effectively into SketchUp. Every time I try, it crashes SketchUp..
Tried it on version 2016 and 2017, with other geometry and on a blank file.
No luck. This plant has some sort of bug, I think.

Laubwerk's picture

Hey Wiliam, please try again with 1.0.25. That species will still not have a nice proxy, but it will show a bounding box and it won't crash any more. Better proxies are forthcoming.

Amazing Plugin, makes my life much much easier when working with vegetation in SketchUp.

This is a fantastic extension. I use it in almost every project now and it's my first choice for everything growing in my scenes.
