FredoScale
Interactively apply a number of geometric transformations, such as Scaling, Tapering, Stretching, Plane Shear, Twisting, Bending and Rotation. V2.6a implements a new naming convention. It requires LibFredo6 5.4 or higher and is needed for future Sketchup
FredoScale

With FredoScale you can orientate the selection box around a set of objects and interactively apply a number of geometric transformations, such as Scaling, Tapering, Stretching, Plane Shear, Twisting, Bending and Rotation. By extension, some transformation can be done without a selection box.

You can find a complete description and also PDF documentation at http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=17948#p144180 (on Sketchucation)

IMPORTANT: Requires you also install LibFredo6 6.9 or higher.

You sir, are as useful as tits on a bull. Fredo has given us all some of the best plugins written and without him very few of us could model as we do.

Halfingr's picture

Why is he supposed to be a con artist or a time waster?

I am in total awe! Fredo you are amazing! Thank you so much for making all your plugins available to the masses. You have opened up my SketchUp horizons 100%.

OMG!!! you are a savior!

totaly dislike, must sing in on sketchucation to dodwnload this extension. But the poit is that you need to pay for make a account there.

Clayton F's picture

I created an account, but when I downloaded the plugin, I get an .rbz file? What the heck do I do with this? All the other plugins install by clicking install, but I have to create an account and then what do I do with the file? Pretty complicated....

Kristin D's picture

Save the .rbz file to somewhere easy to find such as your desktop. Then in SketchUp go to Window>Preferences>Extensions>Install Extension and you will be able to add the extension (.rbz file). It may seem complicated, but believe me, this extension is worth the effort!

Thanks for the help Kristin!

Sketchucation has a FREE registration. You only pay if you wish to become Premium member. With the FREE registration, you can download and install any of the hundreds plugins there, including mine.

I would also suggest that you also install the PluginStore extension which is there (also FREE). See all info at http://sketchucation.com/plugin/696-sketchucationtools.

Then you can install in one click any plugins available on Sketchucation.

This is also where I support my plugins. The main post for FredoScale is http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=144180#p144180. You'll find useful information from other users too.

Why the multiple links to an article only?

Hey Fredo

First I want to thank you for your hard work, please please keep it up.

I just wanted to point out.
There seems to be a problem with the radial bend with nested groups. If I try to bend a parent group with children below I get a bugsplat everytime. Now as soon as I exploded all groups it works amazingly.

Thanks so much
Cassidy

Awesome! The Radial Bend functionality is perfect for sheet metal work. Wish I could post a screenshot...

Fredo6, where can I find on the Extension Warehouse «Round Corner» plugin?

// V.'s picture

You dont need a plugin for this.

John S's picture

Can we get your Tools on Surface up on the Extension Warehouse? I miss those and used them a lot

Tom D's picture

I have used this tool for quite some time and I have come to rely on it. I consider it an essential tool and if it were not to work for the next version of Sketchup it would seriously put me off upgrading when the time comes.

Great tool, Google should consider making it part of their official tools.

Very neat and polished, I installed on my trusty SU6 (changed rbz to zip and manually installed in plug in folder - v easy

Would you be interested in authoring an additional tool for your set - it makes accurate (13places) intersections of 2 coplanar arcs. I can supply the tedious math in basic Excel format but I cant do Ruby. I have checked my work (doing calcs on Excel and transfering results into lines of precise length. I constructed a solid dodecahedron and all sides joined/filled and all vertices were precisely 1.000000 units

post here with how to pm you

cheers

I recently upgraded to 2014………..I had gotten use to all your great tools/plugins using SU8. Now it appears that all those tools aren't available….is this right?

Thanks

Hi LibFredo6,
Can you tell me where I could find you 5.4 version (that I need for using it) ? I didn't find this previous version in the web and I would like to install it on my iMac.

Thank you, have a great day !

fredo6's picture

You should always install the latest version of LibFredo6 (currently 6.0). FredoScale just requires v5.4 or HIGHER.

This plugin is pretty great though I have 2 things to say.
1. It'd be pretty cool if there was a combination tool which would do scaling and rotating at the same time. Which of course should also work with dynamic components.
2. I had a bug with the bending: I used a lengthy component with construction points on both ends to snap it to other parts, and after bending the points which were on the side close to my first selected point got heavily dislocated, even though they were grouped with the end of the component. The points on the other side ended up where they were supposed to be though.

Großartig, dass auch gleich automatisch die Funktion in deutsch erklärt wird, wenn man mit der Maus über ein Icon fährt ! Danke !

Steve and Olivier,

It works in SU2014. Make sure you upgrade LibFredo6 to its latest version (now 6.0)
